Another tidbit about Change

The famous Mexican comic, Mario Moreno, Cantinflas, delivered my high school commencement speech. Cantinflas had a famous routine that consisted of rattling on for several minutes without saying absolutely nothing relevant to the topic he was supposed to be answering or talking about. It was funny then, but it is absolutely hysterical now because it makes me think how often times we are exactly receiving information that is of no relevance to our quality of life and to who we are.

So on our quest for these ever-cycling graduations, from childhood to adulthood, from innocence to wisdom, we must prepare ourselves, open ourselves for change. Recently, the most psychological and environmental change that has come about is technology.

Technology is neutral.  Do not blame technology for “bad” behavior. Technology doesn’t do that, carbon-based-life forms do. And until we stop, until we want to be present, and until we are truly engaged, and not rattle-on like Cantinflas…then we are condemned to blame things and outside circumstances for the changes that we believe are negative.

Let’s all graduate together, not only from kindergarten and college but from the status-quo of not living in the Now.

The graduating class that can really claim the essence of being present and living in the Now as a daily ritual will be “the” great world changing class.

Hugs
