Beauty on the Boat

Every summer my family and I travel to The Exumas in the Bahamas, and every summer I am more in love with this pristine part of the world.

This trip is just beginning yet it already has proved to be amazing. We have three 14-year-old girls on board and to see them not touch their phones so far has been a treat. They are completely absorbed in water activities, nature, and in just being silly and being good friends. They are all beautiful in their own way.

We were at a sand bank this morning that you may walk on jut at low tide. The girls found treasures, sand dollars, conch shells, even sea stars. To see their joy whilst discovering these things from nature was a treat for me. And then something crossed my mind…

Who will these girls grow up to be…will one be a scientist discovering how to perfect harnessing renewable energy from the sea? Will another be the commander on a mission to Mars? Will another be a rock and roll artist playing her soulful guitar for admiring crowds?

And then I realized they will be what they themselves want to be. I will love them all and it will be my privilege to walk alongside them in their journey. I am so thankful to have such beauty on the boat.
