Dressing In The Dark

“Dressing well is a form of good manners.” - Tom Ford

I promise I am not on my soap box, but…here I go.

Whatever happened to turning the lights on and looking in the mirror? Whatever happened to self-reflection and a sense of decorum? Whatever happened to having a sense that it is not alright to look and do whatever you want in life…especially at work, in an airplane, in a restaurant, or at the gym??

In the privacy of your own home you can do whatever you want.

And no, people do not have to be considered superficial if they do not instantly accept your style foibles. Honestly, individualism is great, and we don’t all have to like the same things but there is a limit. Imitating gaudy celebrities who get paid to look like fools should not be anybody’s style template.

I feel very much like Mr. Ford, that caring about your appearance and how other’s might feel is nothing more than absolutely and unequivocally good manners.
