Que Sera, Sera!

When I was just a little girl…I asked my mother what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here’s what she said to me: Que sera, sera…whatever will be will be…the future is not ours to see…Que sera, sera.

This beautiful Doris Day song is full of wisdom and truth. The future is not ours to see, not even (nowadays) if you are Google X.

The future does not really exist except as a concept in our mind…yes, we can be pretty certain the sun will rise in the East tomorrow, and that we can switch on our iProducts and be connected, and that we will somehow manage to work, exercise, eat, sleep and go through our next day pretty much how we went through this day, unless…

We decide not to.

And that my friends, is what 2018 is all about.

Personally I have made up my mind to shake things up a bit. Even this morning when I told my husband I was going to really live it up this year he said: “You know, 99% of people are saying the opposite, they are starting the year off with resolutions and restraints.”

Not me. I am going to live it up. I am going to seek adventure. I am going to work hard and rest harder. I am going to give myself time, time for me to reflect and enjoy. I am going to say no (and not feel guilty). I am going to read tons of books. I am going to dig deeper into things. I am going to take care of myself.

If this sounds selfish, it is. Without me (or you) as a matter of fact nothing is really important. Just magnify the truth of this statement times the nearly 7 billion souls on this planet and we arrive at the conclusion that each and every one of us is important.

The future is not ours to see yet our consciousness can imagine what we want our future to look like, and that vision can come true through being present now. Only in the now can we truly make things happen. Only in the now can we set foundations, and only in the now can we simply BE.

Enjoy 2018… and remember: Que sera, sera.

Hugs,

Jessica
