"Opportunities are often things you haven't noticed the first time around."

Knock, knock!

"Opportunities are often things you haven't noticed the first time around." - Catherine Deneuve

There are two types of opportunities in this world: ones that are directly handed to you, and ones that you are responsible for recognizing and pursuing. Are these opportunities equally shared among us? If you think they are not, is it age, background or circumstance that divides us? In my experience, these factors are secondary. If you want to be open to both types of opportunity, there is only one thing you must do, which is available to anyone, at anytime, anywhere: BE PRESENT.

Being present is a challenge, it's something we all must actively practice. But with consistent presence, you'll be living in the moment, and therefore allowing yourself to see opportunities big and small. Think about it - which opportunities in your life stand out to you? When did they happen? How did they happen? Why did they happen?

Let's say you're in the elevator. You're stressed about an upcoming meeting, and you're living in the future, not the present. Unless you're fully engaged with your surroundings right now, you'll miss the opportunity directly in front of you: a person who works in your building. You'll miss the opportunity to say hello, to introduce yourself, to hand them your business card. Could this person be a future client? A future friend? You'll never know if you don't live in the now and seize this moment.

Another fact about opportunities? One opportunity leads to other opportunities. An opportunity you recognize and chase (saying hello to someone you don't know), could lead to an opportunity that is handed to you (that same person offering you your dream job).

So what opportunities might be hiding right under your nose that you haven't yet noticed? Tomorrow, take the opportunity to use your All Weather Bangles to sent an intention to be present. We think you'll be pleased at where that simple shift in mindset can lead you.
