The Wisest Thing You've Ever Been Told
Every person you meet not only has a unique experience and point of view, but they also have their own arsenal of wisdom - a curated collection of thoughtful advice and meaningful phrases. Today, everyone on the BuDhaGirl team is sharing the pearl of wisdom that they treasure day after day.
Jessica: I have two wise phrases that stay with me always. The first is by Balthazhar de Gracian, "The most important thing in life is to put up with things." The second is by my Grandmother Rita, "He who has never seen God will kneel before any saint."
Caryn: Growing up my parents always told me, "You must love yourself before you can love anyone else." This is so true. I like to think I am a pretty confident woman, and I think it has really helped open doors in my personal and professional life. I teach my son this every day...
Cathy: My dad always said, "Don't lie, it always comes back to you," and he was right. Not only did he say this, but he acted accordingly. If you did something bad and told him immediately, he was calm, cool and collected. If you didn't tell him, or lied about it, and he found out - which he always did - it was another story!
Twyla: As someone who is often anxiety-ridden for no apparent reason, one piece of advice that I've held in high regard recently is Mark Twain's quote "Worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe." When I remember this simple sentence, it helps me live in the present, deal with what is directly in front of me, and not project too far into the future.
